Worship

‘Worship is powerful for many reasons. One of the most important is that we always become like the One we worship’ ‘Worship has a complete focus – God and his worth. It really is all about Him.

It is interesting when you really look at the meaning of a word and then put it in context with God! On dictionary.com worship means – to render religious reverence and homage to or to feel an adoring reverence or regard for (any person or thing). I always use to think that worship is about singing songs in church, whether it is hymns or modern songs but when you really examine what worship means, it is about showing a real attitude of deep respect tinged with awe to God. This can be shown by an inward and outward focus on God. Do we sing songs or worship? To be honest there have been times, I just sing songs and with a sorry heart I need to show God the respect and honour he deserves all the time. Our Father created us and this beautiful earth for us, we have so many things to be grateful for! As Bill Johnson says ‘True worship involves my whole being. It is physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual and financial’….. Could you imagine if we all come to church with a true worshipping heart! … With all our focus on God, leaving our worries at the cross, and focusing on our heavenly Father. How great would church be! Another quote from Bill says ‘the devil is very afraid of a worshiping people. He actually doesn’t mind complacent worship, as it seems to work opposite to the real thing – it deadens our sensitivities to the Holy Spirit of God.’ I don’t want to have a deaden sense to the Holy Spirit. A wonder how the devil would cope if we are always worshipping God in every minute the day! What could the Holy Spirit do through us because we are listening!
