Waiting Well
I wait for the Lord,
My whole being waits,
and in His word I put my hope
I wait for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.
Ps 130:5, 6
These words are a great help when breakthrough seems slow; when we have been enduring a negative circumstance for an extended period of time. I am not the most patient person, but am having to learn, that God does some of His best work in the season before the breakthrough. He is more concerned about us being conformed into His likeness, than anything else. As we wait for breakthrough, despite the fact that it seems delayed, we may notice that our needs are still met, that other good things still happen, and that the journey is not unpleasant. God teaches us to change our perspective, to be able to see the good things He is doing, and the preparation He is making in our lives to increase our capacity. If we wait well, persevere in faith, maintain our hope…only good can come of it. I sometimes think of Joseph in the Bible, who had to wait over 17 years for a breakthrough in his circumstances. But God was at work the whole time preparing him for the huge assignment that lay ahead. Joseph was only a teenager when he was first taken to Egypt. A teenager would not have been ready to be ‘two IC’ of Egypt. God had work to do first. I am sure it is the same with us. The things you are able to handle today are sure to be greater than the things you could have handled 15 years ago. This is a direct result of the Lord working good things into you; and much of that is done during periods of waiting. Lets all learn to wait like the Psalmist. Sure in hope, strong in expectation, trusting in the Word of God.
